Camp Mozumdar is high in California's San Bernardino Mountains, an area that has experienced numerous forest fires in recent years. This photo of the Temple of Christ was taken shortly after one of those fires that came dangerously close to the camp.
The photos below are courtesy of Lonnie Wormley. They were taken in 2004, shortly after fires swept through the area. "The camp sustained major damage with all of the main wooden structures being destroyed except a small house and the temple," Wormley said. The Pillars of God Amphitheater, once the site of A.K. Mozumdar's popular summer lectures, is still impressive but the powerful vibrations reported by his students are long gone.
The effects of the fire are plain to see near the entrance to the Pillars of God Amphitheater.
Nothing is left of Camp Mozumdar's wooden buildings following the forest fires.
Somehow the beautiful Temple of Christ seemed "protected" and escaped fire damage.
It may need some paint and repair, but the Temple of Christ at Camp Mozumdar retains much of its glory.
